Thor's Hammer Pendant

Our faithful replica of the Viking Thor's Hammer, a 10th-century silver amulet from Fossi, Iceland, symbolizes an important historical artifact. The resemblance in shape between Thor’s Hammers and crucifixes facilitated the conversion of Pagan Vikings to Christianity during the 10th and 11th centuries. While Denmark converted in the mid-10th century, Norway, Iceland, Orkney, The Faroes, and Greenland followed suit, sometimes forcefully, during the rule of Olaf Tryggvasson (995-1000). In certain regions of Sweden, however, the ancient religion persisted until the 12th century, when the prominent pagan shrine at Uppsala was eventually dismantled. Interestingly, this amulet was also worn by Dave Grohl.
